MUMBAI, April 10: In a move that might relieve the city commuters of the annual clogging of railway tracks during monsoon, the Central and Western Railways have declared that the drains would be cleaned by the end of May 1998. The general managers of both sections of the suburban railway systems gave this assurance to the Union Minister of state for Railways Ram Naik during a meeting on April 9.
The railways have also taken measures to remove muck and garbage from railway land and have asked the state government for help for procedures like improvement of pumping stations at various sites.
