
PUNE, Oct 7: Chief Minister Manohar Joshi on Tuesday launched the first “responsive administration information network” (RAIN) in the State to help the common people get their work at the collectorate and tehsildar offices done within stipulated time.
Collector Vijay Kumar Gautam, who had taken keen interest in the project that accords first place to the people, has put up a huge board right under his office, to guide citizens on whom to approach for the work.
The board lists 82 types of works from getting a caste certificate to a licence for revolver. It tells who is the competent authority for the work. It tells how much time the officer will take to complete the work.
The board will display the tour programme of revenue officers. It will also give the latest food stock position in the talukas. Lauding the Gautam initiative to bring more transparency to the administration, Joshi said the Government had decided to bring in information technology to make the administration dynamic, modern and transparent. Stating the Government had made budgetary provision of Rs. 50 crore for the purpose, Joshi said employees would be given special computer training.
The Government was prepared to change rules, which were obstacles, Joshi said.
