Raj Court rejects bail petitions of 24 Gujjar women

The women were taken into custody on June six for allegedly damaging a rail track during Gujjar agitation.

A local court on Wednesday rejected the bail petitions of 24 women arrested during the Gujjar agitation in Bandiqui in this district last week.

The women were taken into custody on June six for allegedly damaging a rail track at Damgeera bridge on the Dausa-Bandikui sector which they had blocked along with Gujjar menfolk since June one. They are currently in judicial custody.

The bail applications of the women, booked under the Railway Act, were turned down by the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Rajasthan Police investigating officer Ramveer Singh Jadon told PTI on telephone from the court premises in Bandikui.

One of the arrested women protesters did not move any bail plea, Jadon, who is also the Station House Officer of Bandikui Police Station, said, adding that 47 Gujjar men were arrested along with the women.

Gujjar leader Kirori Singh Bainsla had demanded release of the arrested women and withdrawal of charges against the Gujjar men as preconditions for talks with the state authorities in Jaipur.
