Raj Thackeray’s master strokes

PUNE, Feb 18: A larger-than-life Big B has to accommodate his long legs in another portrait while US President Bill Clinton wears his heart on the now famous cigar. At a stone’s throw, White House intern Monica Lewinsky nurses a picture of the President close to her, her lips seem to say My lips are sealed’.

Shiv Sena Chief Bal Thackeray’s nephew Raj Thackeray took pot shots at virtually every celebrity and political personality with his caricatures. Aptly titled Chehre Mohre’, the 108-odd caricatures on famous personalities is being show cased at the Balgandharva Rangmandir. The exhibition was inaugurated by music maestro Bhimsen Joshi yesterday morning. Whether it was Sachin Tendulkar’s curly mop or Anil Kapoor prickly beard, Mayawati’s pony tail or L K Advani resembling a character in Ramayan with his bow and arrow, Abdul Kalam gritting his teeth alongside a nuclear missile or Jayalalitha in her bullet-proof cape, Thackeray seemed to capture the essence of almost every personality through his caricatures. Film star Nana Patekar was also present for the inauguration. The exhibition is open till February 20.
