CHANDIGARH, SEPT 12: Rajesh Dalal of GGDSD College, Sector 32 displayed better stamina and determination to win the gruelling 40 km road race for seniors boys organised by Chandigarh Amateur Cycling Association at Lake Club here this morning. He pedalled the distance in one hour nine minutes 26.34 seconds. He could have still given a better performance had he not developed mechanical problem with his wheel after covering a distance of eight km. He resumed the race after changing his wheel and joined the bunch immediately.It was a close finish among three competitors Rajesh Dalal, Nirmaljit Singh of City Cyclists Club, Sector 14 and Amitinder Singh of GGDSD College, Sector 32. They finished in bunch. Nirmal clocked 1::9:26.51 and Amitinder was home in 1::9:26.91. Eleven cyclists took part in the above 18 boys category.Ankur Kaul of St Anne's, Sector 32, Harsimran Singh Brar of Government Senior Secondary School, Sector 16 and Vivek Sharma of DAV College, Sector 10 were engaged in a thrilling finish in the 25 km road race for junior boys under-18. They all finished in a bunch. Ankur Kaul won the close race in 56:40.21 while Harsimran Singh Brar was close on his heel in 56:40.30. Vivek Sharma clocked 56:44.46.In the girls 15 km road race, Monika Sharma of Shishu Niketan, Sector 22 emerged winner in 27:41.90. Kavita Sharma of Govt Model School, Sector 19 got the second position.
