Breaking his silence on Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray’s attack on him, superstar Amitabh Bachchan has dismissed his charges that he did more for Uttar Pradesh than Mumbai saying they did not “deserve any attention”.

“Random charges are random; they do not deserve the kind of attention you wish me to give,” Bachchan said in an interview to a local tabloid.

The actor said “this is a free country and every individual enjoys the liberty of free speech. The law of the land and its Constitution are supreme. Every Indian should be affected by that”. Raj had said although Bachchan made fortunes by staying in Mumbai he had done more for UP than Mumbai or Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, suspected activists of MNS assaulted four north Indians here ahead of a party rally on Monday, the first time since the police barred the MNS chief from going public with his speech in the wake of his diatribe against people from northern part of the country. “According to a complainant, a group of around 8-10 persons asked the victims at Santacruz’s Juhu Kokliwada area and started hitting them with sticks when told that they were from Bihar,” said a senior police officer.

A case of rioting was registered in connection with the incident which took place on Saturday night, he said, adding that a passer-by was also injured in the incident.
