NEW DELHI, September 17: St. Stephen's College and Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) claimed the team titles in the women's and men's section, respectively, in the Delhi University Inter-College Aquatic Meet at the Talkatora Swimming Pool, here today.Rakhi Mehra of St. Stephen's College and Sachin Kakkar of SRCC emerged best swimmers.Eighteen-year-old Rakhi Mehra won the 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m free style, 100m, 200m back stroke, 100 & 200m breast stroke, 100 & 200m butterfly stroke, 200 & 400m individually medley events. She created five new meet records. Sachin Kakkar finished first in 50 & 400m free style, 100 & 200m back stroke, 200m individual medley and finished second in 100m & 200 mfree style, and 100m individual medley.Jessica Chen of Jesus and Mary College and Satish Chandra of Hans Raj College were runners-up in the individual women and men section for individual title.St. Stephen's College topped the points tally in women's team section with 108 points to re-affirm their supremacy, while Jesus and Mary College took the second spot with 35 points. Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences (IGIPESS) secured the third place with 17 points.Today, Rakhi Mehra created two records - in 800m free style she broke Meenakshi Pahuja`s (IP College) record of 11:45.50 set in 1995 by clocking 11:08.42 and the second was in 200 m. back stroke held by Pallavi Dutta Barua (SRCC) of 2:53.51 set in 1993 by clocking 2:47.02 sec.In waterpolo, ARSD outplayed Shaheed Bhagat Singh College 9-0 while IGIPESS beat Hans Raj 9-6.Results all finals:Women: 50m Free Style: 1.
