CHENNAI, July 10: The coastal region of the Ramanathapuram district is becoming a major base for smuggling out essential commodities to the war-torn region of North-eastern Sri Lanka. The fishing hamlets along the coastal region are actively involved in this racket. Recently four LTTE militants were arrested and a mechanised boat laden with goods meant for LTTE was seized.
