Yoga guru Swami Ramdev is again in the news. This time, the Union Government has sent a notice to the Uttarakhand Government to inquire into reported claims by the Swami of curing women of infertility with pills.
This was confirmed by Dr. B C Pathak, Director General (Health), Uttarakhand. The notice has been sent by the Union Health Ministry.
“We have forwarded the notice to Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Hardwar, for further inquiry. After the inquiry we will get back to the Central Government,” Dr. Pathak said.
Some time back, CPM leader Brinda Karat had alleged that human and animal parts were being used in the pharmacy run by the Yoga Divya Mandir Trust of Swami Ramdev. The Union Health Ministry had also wanted to check Ayurvedic medicines given by Swami. But an inquiry conducted by the Uttarakhand government gave a clean chit to Swami Ramdev.
“This is part of the conspiracy to malign us. This is for the third time that they are seeking inquiry into our medicines,” Swami Balkrishna, secretary of the trust and a close aide of Swami Ramdev, told The Indian Express on phone.
