OCTOBER 19: Oswald D'Souza cracked four goals in Ave Maria's thumping 6-1 win over Marolites in a First Division Hockey Association of Mumbai (HAM) match at St Andrew's High School Ground, Bandra, today. Packing a mighty wallop and setting a telling pace in Ave Maria's attack, the bespectacled striker found the net twice in each half.Ryan Alphonso and Peter Fernandes added the other goals for Ave Maria with Darshen Singh pulling one back for ten-man Marolites to make it 1-5.Rajput XI making a hash of 15 penalty-corners against Mari Nagar still managed to win 2-1 with goals by Rohin Fernandes and Saby Fernandes (penalty-stroke). Mari Nagar reduced the margin through Sewell D'Mello late in the game and were unlucky not to split points when Albert Misquitta went close in the dying moments.Oswald, leading Ave Maria's charge, struck in the ninth minute with a crisp hit to put his side one-up. With Marolites unable to field the full complement of 11 players, their beleaguered defence wasn't helped by shaky goalkeeping and a feeble clearance by Ashlyn D'Mello presented Niren Pimenta Ave Maria their second.goal after 19 minutes.D'Mello was not at fault when Marolite's citadel fell again - Oswald's neat flick giving the hardpressed custodian no chance Oswaldo's verve in a rampaging attack floored the rival defence in the second half, scoring his fourth with a high shot into the net, then laid a pass for Peter Fernandes to put Ave Maria 5-0 up.Darshan Singh deflected the ball in amidst a scramble in front of goal with only a minute left to score a consolation for Marolites.
