Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd has reported a 79 per cent rise in net profit for its first quarter (Jan-March 2007) to Rs 129 crore while global sales increased 23 per cent to Rs 1,564 crore. The jump came from emerging markets, which comprised 54 per cent of global sales and recorded 53 per cent growth. North American sales crawled up 3 per cent while the EU accounted for a 78 per cent hike in sales at $93 million.
Romania, where the company acquired generic drug manufacturer Terapia Last year, alone contributed $37 million to Ranbaxy’s sales. “Stellar performances in the emerging markets and the European continent underpin the strong numbers declared today,” said CEO Malvinder Singh.
JK Tyres profit rises 3-fold
NEW DELHI: Tyre manufacturer JK Tyres and Industries Ltd has reported a more than three-fold jump in its profit after tax for the quarter ended March 31, 2007, at Rs 13.75 crore against Rs 3.59 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. The company’s net sales in the quarter stood at Rs 746.84 crore compared with Rs 625.04 crore, up 19.48 per cent year-on-year, JK Tyres said in a statement.
Container Corp net up 24%
MUMBAI: Logistics major Container Corporation of India has clocked an over 24 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 169.24 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31 compared with Rs 136.22 crore for the corresponding period last fiscal. Total income increased to Rs 822.95 crore, up 19 per cent from Rs 691.60 crore for the same period in 2006.
Pantaloon profit jumps 15%
NEW DELHI: Future Group’s Pantaloon Retail (India) Ltd has reported a 15.2 per cent increase in net profit to Rs 18.71 crore for the quarter ended March 31, against Rs 16.24 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. Net sales grew 89 per cent to Rs 61.04 crore and EPS rose to Rs 1.33 per share from Rs 1.32 per share in the year-ago period.
LT Overseas net soars 82%
Mumbai: Packaged foods processor and exporter L T Overseas has announced an 82% rise in net profit for fiscal 2006-07 to Rs 20.59 crore. Total revenue rose 20 per cent to Rs 485.51, from Rs 404.57 crore in the last financial year. The EPS increased to Rs 9.24 from Rs 7.81 last year .
Raymond profit sinks 69%
MUMBAI: Textile and apparel major Raymond Ltd has reported a 69.4 per cent drop in net profit to Rs 10.67 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, compared with Rs 34.81 crore in the same period a year ago. Total income (net of excise) decreased to Rs 357.09 crore, 10.77 per cent down from Rs 400.22 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2006.
