Rane scores hat-trick

Aug 19: Rajesh Rane scored a hat-trick to star in PD Hinduja’s 3-1 victory over BPCL Marketing at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel. Hinduja took the lead in the first half of the Div II league match for the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Trophy, with Rane setting the ball on roll. The only form of resistance from the BPCL team came from a late goal scored by Rajesh Vaghela, reducing the margin of defeat to a two goals. In a Div III league encounter played later in the day Don Bosco Oratory (B) prevailed 1-0 over Sonata Sports Club, Juhu, with Sanjay Kharatmal scoring the match-winner. Another Div III encounter played earlier in the day saw Khalsa Gymkhana (B) take on JJ Sports Club. The match ended in a goalless draw with both teams unable to score till the final whistle.
