Rashtrapati Bhavan has, once again, refused to submit to the riots commission the correspondence between former president K.R. Narayanan and former PM Atal Behari Vajpayee on the post-Godhra riots in Gujarat.
The president’s secretariat has written to the Nanavati-Shah Commission that advocate Mukul Sinha’s application for the letters had been carefully considered the first time and there was nothing to add.
In a related development, the panel today asked prime witness in the Best Bakery carnage, Zaheera Sheikh, to be present on August 3. She failed to appear before the commission for the third time today.
