CHANDIGARH, May 8: Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee have in a memorandum submitted to Adviser Jagdish Sagar, raised certain pertinent demands regarding school education. According to the general secretary, their demands include steps to decrease and rationalise tuition fee in privately run schools, compulsory constitution of Parent Teacher Association in all privately run schools, immediate ban on collection of building funds from students and a check on other money making tendencies of schools.

Their other demands are that only those schools recognised by the Administration be considered for allotment of land, provision of more funds for education in forthcoming plans, more model schools to be opened and more sections to be added in the existing schools. They have further stressed on the fact that all vacant posts of teachers should be filled on priority basis, all ad hoc teachers should be regularised and their emoluments be increased from Rs 2,200 to Rs 3,500, more classes to be added in vocational courses, regular appointment of teachers for vocational courses and ban of admission related donations to private schools should be enforced.
