The Congress high command has accepted the resignation of Luizinho Faleiro as Goa PCC chief, party general secretary and Goa in-charge Margaret Alva said today.
The move comes after Alva last week reprimanded Faleiro for levelling allegations against some state party leaders in public.
The party, sources said, would announce the name of the new PCC chief next week in Delhi, though former chief minister and Bahujan Samaj leader Ravi Naik is tipped to be chosen for the post.
‘‘Ravi Naik has the support of the majority of the newly elected members in the just-concluded organisational elections,’’ sources said. They said, at a meeting tomorrow, the state unit would unanimously decide to leave it to party president Sonia Gandhi to choose the new PCC chief.
