MUMBAI, JUNE 15: Lack of imagination in offence deprived Fr Agnel Gymkhana of a handsome winning margin, as the boys from Vashi settled for a 3-0 win over Reserve Bank of India in the BHA First Division League at Mahindra Stadium today.

Tanveer Sheikh contributed a brace, while Ilyas Khan added one. RBI, needless to say, never looked like scoring.

The average age of the RBI players was roughly twice that of the Agnel boys; that, alas, was the price RBI had to pay for a freeze on recruitment.

Hard-pressed to keep pace with their opponents, RBI allowed Agnel a free run of the turf.

But control over mid-field and ball possession did not translate into goals. Through passes were made, the left out was repeatedly set up in the blind spot to the right of the goal-post, but there were few shies at the goal.

The only moment of interest in a dull match was the third goal, a beauty. A brilliant flick was blocked by RBI custodian Francis Cabral, but Tanveer Shaikh, with a horizontal mid-air swipe, guided itin.
