After losing its appeal against the new Sports Regulation Ordinance in the state, the Rajasthan Cricket Association has announced that it would move the Supreme Court and also hold the elections next month.RCA secretary and former treasurer of the BCCI Kishore Rungta said that since their writ petition challenging the Rajasthan Sports Ordinance, 2004 was rejected by the High Court, the Association has been left with no other alternative but to hold elections in accordance with the Ordinance. Rungta said they would move the SC against the verdict and in the meantime, they would hold elections under protest in the third week of January as a 21-day notice is necessary according to the constitution of the Association. The HC had yesterday upheld the Ordinance issued by the state government to regulate various sports associations and the RCA was hit hard by some of the provisions of the ordinance. The most contentious issue was the voting right to individual members which far exceeded the number of district associations affiliated to the RCA. It was alleged that the Rungtas were controlling the RCA with the help of such individual members who had the voting right.
