Contrary to what others may think, the comrades would want the violence in Nandigram to be regarded as a manifestation of, hold your heart, Naxalism. Take this. When NDA leaders sought a discussion on Nandigram at the last Business Advisory Committee meeting of the Lok Sabha, CPI(M) leader Rupchand Pal was ready with this suggestion: “You can take it up as a part of a debate on Naxalism.” Nobody took Pal’s suggestion seriously. Much to his disappointment, the NDA is gearing up to take on the CPI(M) over the land acquisition clashes in West Bengal when Parliament resumes its session on Monday.
