FATEHGARH SAHIB, MARCH 24: In order to free the Akali Dal from addicts and unholy people, a reform movement, on the pattern of Gurdwara Sudhar Lehar,’ would be launched after April 15. This was disclosed here today by Harminder Singh Gill, president, All India Sikh Students Federation and Karnail Singh, general secretary, Youth Akali Dal while addressing a joint press conference.
They further said that in this connection, both the organisations were going to hold a Sikh Youth Convention on April 5 at Gurdwara Alamgir near Ludhiana. They added that on this occasion, former Akal Takht Jathedar Bhai Ranjit Singh would be honoured with the Akali Phoola Singh Award, while former SGPC chief Gurcharan Singh Tohra would be honoured with the Baba Kharak Singh Award.
Both the leaders held Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal responsible for two separate functions in connection with tercentenary celebrations on the day of Baisakhi at Anandpur Sahib. They alleged that in place of a religious function, an amount of Rs 1 crore was being ruined on the occasion.
Gill said that Badal was patronising the Sant Samaj and the Samaj comprised of people who were already in illegal possession of gurdwaras and gurdwara properties.
They said that during the removal of Tohra, there was a brazen display of money power to buy the loyalty of SGPC members.
