Hoshiarpur: The 29th Punjab state conference of National Integrated Medical Association would be held on January 31 at the local Government College. Lectures will be delivered on allopathic and ayurvedic medicines by research scholars at the conference, according to organising secretary Shashi Puri.
Meet
Patiala: Professor R. N. Misra, head, Department of Defence and Strategic Studies, Punjabi University, Patiala, has been invited to participate in a meeting of the committee constituted by the Association of Indian Universities, the International Committee of Red Cross and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. As many as 12 experts from the field of defence and strategic studies and international law will discuss various issues relating to the laws of war and armed conflicts at the meeting to be held on January 30.
Coaching classes
Patiala: The IAS and Allied Services Training Centre at the Punjabi University, Patiala, will start coaching classes for MBA, MPC and MCA from February 2, in accordance with the directions of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. According to Centre director G. S. Bajwa, only candidates with 50 per cent marks in graduation can apply, along with three passport size photographs and attested copies of testimonials, on or before January 25, 1999. The interview will be held on January 27, at 10 a.m., in the director’s office. The SC/ST candidates would be provided free coaching and scholarships, as per rules.

Patiala: The Rotract Club (central), Patiala, started a movement to keep the Mata Kaushalaya Hospital clean, in collaboration with the Oriental Bank of Commerce, at a function here today. The club has installed publicity boards with messages regarding awareness of social evils within the hospital premises. Oriental Bank of Commerce regional manager Thakur Singh Manes was the chief guest at the function.

Patiala: Renowned Sikh missionary Harbhajan Singh Yogi has urged every Sikh to plant five saplings each in the memory of the five panj piaras in connection with the tercentenary celebrations of the Khalsa Panth, according to a press release issued here today by a monthly magazine Punjab Today. Yogi, during a telephonic conversation with the editor of magazine Kanwar Manjit Singh, said that this would help in protecting the environment.
