Relief for CM Raman as state passes OoP Bill

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh and a number of his Cabinet colleagues received a reprieve today with the state Assembly passing the Chhattisgarh Legislature (Prevention of Disqualification) Amendment Bill, 2006.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh and a number of his Cabinet colleagues received a reprieve today with the state Assembly passing the Chhattisgarh Legislature (Prevention of Disqualification) Amendment Bill, 2006. In all 90 offices have been scheduled under the Bill and these posts have been exempted from being categorised as offices of profit.

Tabling the Bill in the House, Chhattisgarh Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ajay Chandrakar stated that the state Government had decided to bring in the Bill so as to clear the prevailing confusion regarding the offices of profit.

Chief Minister, but also about half-a-dozen ministers who had come under the purview for holding offices of profit, thanks to the distribution of spoils.

While Dr Singh is holding the post of chairman of

the Herbal Board and the Bastar Development Authority, his senior Cabinet colleague Brij Mohan Aggarwal is the chairman of the Tourism Board.
