CHENNAI, Nov 13: The Government has decided to effect a steep hike in the rent for buildings owned by temples in the State. There are 36,000 temples, having properthy of 1.33 lakh including vacant sites, buildings houses and shops. The lease of the tenants who refuse to accept the revision in the rent will be terminated and they will be evicted, according to Government sources.
