NEW DELHI, SEPT 28: An estimated 55 per cent of voters exercised their franchise as repolling in 536 polling booths in three states passed off peacefully on Tuesday.

Repolling was held in 481 polling booths in Bihar, 19 in Madhya Pradesh and 36 in Uttar Pradesh.

In Bihar, where repolling was held in the largest number of booths, a 50 per cent turnout was registered.

Repolling was held at four booths in Bettiah, 31 in Motihari, 61 in Gopalganj, 52 in Siwan, 57 in Maharajganj, 89 in Chapra, 27 in Hajipur, 28 in Vaishali, 20 in Muzafferpur, 28 in Darbhanga, 50 in Nalanda, seven in Patna, 16 in Ara and 11 in Buxer.

In Uttar Pradesh, where repolling was held in 36 booths, 66 per cent voter turnout was recorded with Kairana registering the highest 76.5 per cent in five booths.

Repolling was held in 19 booths in Muzaffarpur, five in Kairana, seven in Shahajehanpur, three in Bagpat, and one each in Moradabad and Budaun.

In Madhya Pradesh, 50 per cent voter turnout was recorded in 19 polling booths spread over four Lok Sabha constituencies.

Repolling was held in nine polling stations in Chindwara constituency and five in Bastar, where there were complaints of irregularities during the fourth phase of Lok Sabha polls on September 25.

Repolling also took place in one polling station in Khajuraho and four in Sagar – originally scheduled to go to polls on September 18 – where polling personnel had been unable to reach following heavy rains.
