England discards Jeremy Snape and James Foster have, meanwhile, reached a camp at the CCI here to work on their understanding of spin and the subcontinental tracks. Snape, Foster and a host of junior cricketers from Middlesex and Essex are at the nine-day camp organised by the World Cricket Academy (WCA).

Out of the English side since the World Cup, Snape is ‘‘enjoying the back to basics session with Prasanna’’. ‘‘It’s such an enriching time with Pras. His talk on the art of flighting has been really wonderful. I reckon I want to keep learning. The knowledge being passed on to the guys is tremendous.’’

As conversation moved from flight to grip, Prasanna had Snape mesmerised. ‘‘It (gripping the cricket ball) is so different from the way we do it. Maybe it is because of the pitches, that you tend to it differently.’’ Foster, meanwhile, is busy soaking whatever Contractor and Gooch have to say. The essence of this trip, says Foster, is to learn to bat for long periods.
