PANCHKULA, MARCH 21: A general body meeting of the Haryana Government Retired Officers’ Welfare Association was held at the Day Care Centre, in Sector 15, here today.
Members, while discussing their demands, pointed out that though the pre-1986 retirees had been put under the new grades of pension, they still have not been granted parity.
The Haryana government had announced the revision of scales on January 1, 1996, but it has not been implemented till date, they said.
The members complained that revised medical allowance was not being given to retired officers, even though those in service were getting it. Also, couples who have retired from Haryana government service have not been given the medical allowance while those serving are already being paid the same.
They further said that retired officers had not been given the second installment of arrears as promised by the Bansi Lal government.
The retired officers decided that if their demands were not met by April 15, the association would file a writ petition in the High Court.
Later, elections to the general body were held. Babu Ram Gupta was the returning and presiding officer. The meeting and elections were held under the chairmanship of Ved Prakash Maingi.
T. R. Tuli defeated Gyan Chand Gupta and was elected the president.
Ram Prakash was elected unanimously as senior vice-president, S. P. Grover as vice-president, Ram Narayan as general secretary, L. L. Malhotra as secretary, O. D. Sharma as organising secretary and Kailash Chander Jain as finance secretary.
