Hitting back at Anil Ambani-headed rel’s move to confer more powers on Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) Chairman Mukesh in relation to the energy company, ril said it has not sought any such powers.

Referring to rel’s notice to Bombay Stock Exchange on Tuesday on its proposal to amend its Articles of Association (AoA) to provide for chairmanship for Mukesh in rel, an ril spokesman on Wednesday night said, “ril has not been consulted by rel before the proposed re-amendment of the relevant Articles of Association”.

“Ril has not sought, in any manner, withdrawal of any powers conferred by it on Anil D. Ambani”, the spokesperson added.

In February, 2003, ril had intimated to bses (as it was known then) that Anil Ambani and Satish Seth are designated to be the chairman and vice-chairman of the board of directors of bses (later renamed rel). —PTI
