Rizwanur Rehman’s mother Kishwar Jehan replied to Priyanka Todi ‘s letter on Wednesday expressing shock and grief at her daughter-in-law’s attitude, though wishing her luck for the future.

“Mein ne socha tha ke tum humlogon ke pass aa ke humara ghum me sharik hogi. Tum meri choti bahu ho; ab tum wakil ka chitti de rahe ho. Hum logon ko bahut dukh hua. Tum hum logon ke pass nahi ana chahte ho. (I thought that you will come to us to share our grief. But you got your advocate to write to us. We are deeply grieved. You don’t want to come to us),” Jehan wrote in her two-page letter.

“I always believed that my daughter-in-law was on our side. I expected her to visit our home after my son died, or at least during his last rites. But she did not turn up. Now after all this she sends us this letter, that too through her advocate. We are in a state of shock. We did not expect this from her,” said Jehan.

Priyanka sent the letter on November 5 stating that she will not return to Rizwanur’s house and will stay with her father Ashok Todi. She also demanded that her belongings, including sarees, photographs, CDs, documents and other things be returned to her. But Jehan clarified on Wednesday that most of the original documents were in the possession of the CBI and the family only had photocopies.
