Film director Kaizad Gustad and his assistant Ashish Udeshi, arrested in connection with the death of Nadia Khan, will have to stay in police custody till June 17.
Extending their custody period today, Magistrate P.T. Rahule also deferred until then the bail petitions filed by the accused. Co-accused and Gustad’s team member Hadley d’Mello has already been remanded to police custody till June 17.
The prosecution pleaded for further police custody on the ground that investigation was incomplete. Besides, they had to confirm the fax message sent by Nadia’s mother from USA to a city hospital, asking the latter to hand over the body to executive producer of the film Ayesha Shroff. Gustad’s lawyers argued that there was no need to keep the accused in police custody merely because police had to confirm the fax message.
