NEW DELHI, DECEMBER 22: Robin Dev of Haryana earned the cheers of an appreciative local crowd at the Government Senior Secondary School boxing arena at this industrial town here on Friday when he outpointed Ashwani Sharma of Chandigarh 7-6 to move into the semi-finals in light flyweight category of the 33rd Junior National Boxing Championships.

V Durga Rao of Andhra Pradesh was awarded an RSC in the third round against K Kujor (SPSB) in another quarterfinal bout in the light flyweight category.

Punjabâ€™s Arun Singh and A Magesh (

In flyweight section, Andhra Pradeshâ€™s Suwdi Raju scored an RSC win in the third round over Subod Dhyani of UP to enter the semifinals. Diwakar (SPSB), Rajesh Kumar (Bengal) and Rakesh Purti (Bihar) also moved into the last four stage.

Local lad Suresh Singh Beniwar, an international boxer, suffered defeat at the hands of Yadvinder Singh of Punjab after he was disqualified by the referee for â€˜hitting below the beltâ€™ in the middle weight section.

Boxers from 29 states and the Services are taking part in the six-day championships which will conclude on Sunday.
