Asha once more
After all that will-she-won’t-she over the past few months, now she definitely will. Asha Bhonsle will perform in the city on November 14 at the SSPMS Ground, bringing to town a mega concert titled Dus Hazaar Aathsau Aashon Ke Pal. The concert has already commenced its tour at Lucknow, and the show in Pune is its only performance in Maharashtra.

For all those fans of the singing legend – this is a must-see. The three-hour production showcases varied musical styles, a foot-tapping medley from her film hits, her Hindi pop collection, darbari ghazals and other remix numbers. Not just that, the singer will also share various anecdotes associated with the different songs. A giant screen will be propped on stage to show sequences knitting the songs together. Her repertoire – more than 11,000 songs in several languages – packed in a nutshell for you. Undoubtedly, an evening to remember.

Racing to jive
This Freaky Friday at Totem Pole was a galloping success. `Dancing at the Derby’ – the theme saw a packed venue. With a bookie stall at one end, saddles and horseshoes adorning the walls and picket fences and horse paintings propped up here and there, the attempt to get the right kind of decor was pretty successful. And they even had booklets with music tracks listed instead of the horses!

Amongst those boogieing, some well-known faces like Rasika Reddy, Magansinh Jodha, Irene Patel, Robert D’Mello, Asad Siddiqui could also be sighted, and nobody pulled in their reins as they had a good time!

Heart in motion
Their first impression of the city must have been really good, urging the reggae-bhangra singing duo Kendell Smith and Tarsame Singh, more popularly known as Stereo Nation, to visit Pune again. As part of an eight-city promo tour for their new album Jambo, the two hit the Poona Club on October 16. Yeah, they’ll find the city waiting for them.

And for those who may be spending the Friday evening at Black Cadillac, something’s happening there too. In case the decor looks strangely familiar, let’s not keep you guessing too long. BC has lined up an `American Affair’ for Puneites, and the place will fill in as a kinda White House! Along with the usual jivin’ and fun, model Aditi Govitrikar will also make an appearance. Bill Clinton knew he’d make headlines when he became US President. But did Monica Lewinsky guess she’d inspire theme parties in lands far away from her own?!

Fine cuts
Catwalking alright, but here the accent is not so much on the figure as much on the head that stands elegantly on the shoulders. Yes, come November 28 and it’s going to be a fashion show of a different kind. A myriad hair-cuts, exclusively designed by noted beautician Elizabeth Kumar, owner, Lizze’s Hairdressers and Beauticians, located in Koregaon Park. Pray, why a hairdo show? States Elizabeth with pride, “We are deep into the science of hair-cuts and hair care. We believe in giving a haircut only after interacting with the client about his lifestyle. In these hectic times, it is important to have a haircut that will suit your face and that can be easily maintained, without elaborate hair drying or setting”.

It is to prove this point that 25 amateur models, including five kids, will be the centre of attraction for the show. Elizabeth explains that since the accent is on the hairdo, photographs of how the models looked before the chopping will form the background picture on screen. Jackie Shroff, Mark Robinson and Pramod Navalkar have promised to add glamour to the event. Elizabeth informs that the proceeds of this show will go to Concern India. November 28, incidentally, is the first anniversary of the parlour.
