CHANDIGARH, Sept 27: Even as yet another snatching incident took place in Sector 37 yesterday, the city police have announced a reward of Rs 10,000 to any person for giving information to the police, leading to the arrest of the snatchers.

A statement issued by the UT Senior Superintendent of Police C.S.R. Reddy said that this was being done in view of the increasing incidents of snatchings. It added that if desired, the informer’s name will be kept secret. The information can be passed on to Crime Stoppers on phone 544444.

Meanwhile, another incident of snatching took place in Sector 37 yesterday. However, nothing was lost as the purse that was snatched contained only some keys, said the police sources. A scooterist had decamped with the purse of a pedestrian woman, who resides in Sector 37.

A police party chased the scooterist but failed to nab him. They, however, took down the number and are trying to get the owner’s name and address. "The police hope to get a breakthrough very soon at last," added the sources.
