CHANDIGARH, Dec 14: Regional Sports Board, Chandigarh, continued their winning spree in the ongoing All India Civil Services hockey tournament being played at Sector 42 Hockey Stadium. In the quarterfinal today, they scored a 11-2 win over Madhya Pradesh to get a place in the semifinal.The eventual winners dominated the proceeding and shot into the lead in the 6th minute through Tarlochan Singh, who converted the team’s first penalty corner. Thereafter, there was no looking back. RSB, Chandigarh led 6-0 at the break.
Daljit Singh and Munish Sharma scored four goals each (not hat-trick). Kulwant Singh got one for RSB, Chandigarh.
Sharaft Ali and N Pandey shot one each for the loser.
In another match, RSB, Ranchi defeated RSB, Hyderabad 2-0 to enter the last four stage.
Both the goals came in the first session.
Hyderabad’s forward line made inroads into the rival territory in the second half but were unable to get past the Ranchi’s brick-wall like defence line.RSB, Chennai also made to the semifinal by beating RSB, Jaipur 3-0.T Joshua, T Ravi Kumar and R Khanna were the marksmen for the winners.
Central Secretariat, Delhi outplayed Chandigarh 5-2 to become the last semifinalist team.
Amit Sharma shot three goals while TS Negi and P Sumesh Chandra one each for Delhi.
Harish Sharma got both the goals for Chandigarh.
Semifinals will be played tomorrow, at 1 p.m.
