
KHARAR, Jan 4: Despite the chill in the air, Balle Balle-99 at Simbalmajra village, near Kharar, got a good response on Sunday as people thronged the venue to hear Punjabi folk singer Hans Raj Hans and others.
The cultural programme, organised as part of the New Year celebrations by the Youth Welfare and Cultural Club of Simbalmajra and Art and Cultural Journalists Association of Chandigarh, in collaboration with Department of Cultural Affairs, Punjab, began in the morning and lasted till late night.
Noted Punjabi folk singers Hans Raj Hans, Sardul Sikandar, Mohd. Sadiq, Harbhajan Mann, Jagtar Jagga, Satwinder Bugga, Kamaljit Singh, Parminder Sandhu, Sunita Bhatti, Fakir Chand Patanga, Baljit Kaur Mohali, Gurkirpal Surapuri, Rajinder Mohini, Avtar Taari, Maninder Deol, Nachhattar Gill, Paramjit Dhanjal, Surinder Mahiwaal, Bhupinder Gill, Neelam, Amrik Babbal, Baljinder Kaur Dhillon, Raj Mohd. and many other famous singers enthralled the audience.
The programme was inaugurated by the Roopnagar MP Satwinder Kaur Dhaliwal. Punjab Youth Services Minister Gobind Singh Kanjhla presided over the function, while the Punjab Cultural Affairs and Tourism Minister Jagir Kaur was the chief guest.
However, chaos prevailed at the programme site and the audience was seen shouting against the organisers for the mismanagement. Liquor was openly sold from a truck parked in a corner of the site. Police personnel which were low in number had a tough time controlling the frayed tempers. However, no untoward incident was reported from the venue.
