S.A.S. NAGAR, January 18: Punjab Food and Supplies Minister Madan Mohan Mittal has predicted that SAD-BJP combine will sweep all Punjab Lok Sabha seats which are going to polls on February 16.

Addressing media persons here today after the inaugural function of the Shastri Model School he said: “We will win all 11 Punjab parliamentary seats.” Going by the results of the recent Municipal Council elections in Punjab, Mittal said, there was a wave in favour of the coalition partners.

When pointed out that Punjab has 13 Lok Sabha seats and not 11, Mittal said the BJP had not yet decided whether or not to canvass for two seats of Jalandhar and Phillaur (Reserve) left out by the Akalis for Prime Minister I.K. Gujral (Janata Dal) and Satnam Singh Kainth (Punjab Samaj Morcha), respectively.

Lashing out at the Congress party for its 40-year misrule, he said that the problems faced by the people had increased manifold during the period.

Besides highlighting Congress failure in delivering goods, corruption will also be the poll plank of the BJP.

Blaming the Congress Party for imposing mid-term elections, he said the reason for the withdrawal of support was Bofors issue and not the Jain diary. Since all the files related to Bofors issue are lying with the Prime Minister, it is his responsibility to make it public before the elections were imposed, Mittal said.

Ruling out Sonia Gandhi as a crowd-puller, he said, being a foreigner she could not be accepted as a leader of the country. “It is for the voters to decide whether to elect “Ram Rajya or Rome Rajya”, he said. When his attention was drawn towards the misuse of religion for political ends, he said that politics could not be kept away from religion as “religion is part of life”.
