NASHIK, March 9: The Shiv Sainiks from Nandgaon town have decided to launch an agitation from March 26 to protest against the delay in execution of developmental works. This is a major reversal in trends in the Sena, which had been resting on its laurels since it came to power in the State in 1995, and was routed in the recent polls.

According to president of the local unit of the Sena and Bharatiya Vidyarthi Sena , Santosh Gupta, developmental works like roads, which had been granted administrative approval in 1996-97 have not been taken up by the Zilla Parishad.

The Sainiks have decided to launch an indefinite hunger strike from March 26 to draw the attention of the State Government to their plight. They have also decided to blacken the faces of officials of the Zilla Parishad’s building and construction department.

The cost of the works is around Rs 6 lakh. They have pointed out that the delays would lead to cost escalations and invite people’s wrath.
