NEW DELHI, June 11: Members of Rashtriya Janata Dal and Samajwadi Party today staged a walk-out from Lok Sabha amidst uproar accusing the government of evading a decision on whether to challenge the Calcutta High Court’s order in the U N Biswas case.

Trouble arose during zero hour when Parliamentary Affairs Minister Madan Lal Khurana said Centre was yet to take a legal opinion on whether to challenge the High Court order quashing departmental proceedings against CBI Joint Director Biswas.

Laloo Prasad Yadav (RJD) and Mulayam Singh Yadav (SP) immediately charged the government with dithering on the issue despite making a promise yesterday to inform the House of its decision within 24 hours, and led the walk-out. Later, members of the Congress and the Left parties’ clashed with treasury benches on the Defence Minister George Fernandes’ comment that Biswas had sought the help of armed forces in the fodder scam case on an verbal directive of the Patna High Court.
