NEW DELHI, MARCH 5: Samata Party, an ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on Sunday declared it will vote against any opposition sponsored motion seeking to censure the Government on the RSS issue and said the Centre has "not done anything unconstitutional" in the matter.
"We will vote against any motion to censure Government on RSS issue. The Centre has not done anything unconstitutional," party president Jaya Jaitly told reporters here.
"We are one with the Prime Minister that a matter of state subject should not be used to disrupt Parliament proceedings. How can Centre interfere with a Gujarat Government decision. It will be an attack on the federal structure of the Constitution", Jaitly said.
Referring to Monday’s meeting of NDA constituents convened by Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, Jaitly said she had no idea of the agenda. "However, I don’t think it is to discuss the RSS issue," she remarked.
In the eventuality of voting in the House on a motion censuring the Government for "failing to do its Constitutional job" in asking the Gujarat Government to review the decision on RSS issue, she said, "In that event we will vote against any motion because Centre has not done anything unconstitutional".
"You cannot single out RSS alone," she said adding "if opposition parties really wanted to discourage government employees taking part in NGO activities, they should do it with an uniform yardstick".
