Congress MLA from Bholath, Sukhpal Singh Khaira, in a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, said that it is a matter of great regret that he has neither been informed nor invited for the proposed sangat darshan programme being held in his constituency on November 5. He said the programme should be called ‘Akali Darshan’ and not ‘Sangat Darshan’ if the local MLA was not invited only because he belongs to the opposition. He has written that being an elected representative of the people he deserves to be a part of the programme. “I am surprised that a politician of your stature, having an experience of 50 years in public life should indulge in such partisan and parochial approach,” he has written in the letter. He has also alleged that over 200 Congress leaders and workers of his constituency, including himself, have been falsely implicated in criminal cases during the past over 18 months of the SAD-BJP rule. “A well-planned campaign has been launched to target Congress cadre at the behest of Bibi Jagir Kaur, whom I defeated,” reads the letter.
