Actor Sanjay Dutt and wife Manyata have withdrawn their marriage declaration filed before a south Goa registrar, calling off their fortnight-old wedding that had allegedly ran into legal hassles.
The couple has applied before the Salcette Sub-Registrar stating that they did not wish to solemnise their marriage under the Portuguese Civil Code, 1867. They also submitted to the authorities that the documents presented at the time of marriage registration be treated as withdrawn.
Sanjay Dutt and Manyata said they would register their marriage under Special Marriage Act of 1954. Salcette Sub-Registrar Pissurlekar said that Sanjay’s lawyer Manoj Dessai had applied for the withdrawal of declaration.
The two had registered their marriage on February 7 in Goa.
