MUMBAI, April 25: Mumbai today got its first ever Mayor-in-Council with total executive powers with the election of Shiv Sena’s Nandakumar Satam to the prestigious post.Speaking at his first press meet, Satam stressed that he would not back the proliferation of illegal constructions in the city.“I will be available to the general public to address their grievances,” Satam said. But illegal projects will receive no encouragement, he stressed. Satam also said that Octroi charges would be hiked to generate additional funds. However, Octroi was not the only source; ready-made garment units could also fetch more revenue, he added.
