Saurav wants 99 to take him past 65 at Eden

Since becoming captain of the Indian cricket team, Sourav Ganguly has played quite a few matches at the Eden Gardens. But he has never been able to get a good score as a captain. Ganguly’s highest score till date at the Eden Gardens has been 65 in a Test match against Australia. ‘‘I have to do something about this,’’ he said today. ‘‘If I can get something more than what has been my highest in an international game at the Eden Gardens, I will feel very happy.’’ That is what he will be looking for tomorrow.

jersey number 99. When asked whether it was superstition that forced him to change from 24 to 99, the Indian skipper said, ‘‘It was unintentional. It brought us good luck. So maybe I will continue with it tomorrow.’’
