CALCUTTA, April 13: All partners of the `bangla bachao front’ (Save Bengal Front), led by Trinamool Congress, today agreed to fight the ensuing panchayat elections in West Bengal with a common symbol and a common programme. The front, including Samata party, Lokshakti and Muslim League, arrived at this decision at a meeting with the Trinamool Congress leadership here, Trinamool Congress chairman Pankaj Banerjee told newsmen.

BJP, which has already expressed its reservation in joining the front, was “expected” to take a decision in this regard at its meeting with the Trinamool Congress later tonight, Banerjee said.

He said the front was promoted by Trinamool Congress prior to the Lok Sabha elections to counter CPI(M)-led left front in the State.
