Automobile company TVS Motors was on Friday restrained by the Supreme Court from taking further booking orders for its two-wheeler TVS Flame till January 29.“No further booking shall be made till January 29,” a Division Bench headed by Justice H S Kapadia said while directing the single Bench of Madras High Court to take the interim application of Bajaj Auto Ltd (BAL) on January 29.The Bench issued its direction on a petition filed by BAL challenging the Madras High Court order allowing TVS to go ahead with the manufacture and sale of Flame. The Apex Court, after hearing both the automobile majors, stated that the present status quo was to be maintained. Bajaj Auto had accused TVS Motor of infringing its patent on DTS-i in Flame. TVS uses CCVTi technology in the Flame, which Bajaj claims to be a copy of its DTS-i technology. Bajaj uses DTS-i technology in its Pulsar series as well as other two-wheeler models.TVS, however, has denied BAL’s allegations and slapped a Rs 250-crore defamation suit against the company.
