CHANDIGARH, July 22: The School Games Federation of India (SGFI) has received an invitation from the Sri Lankan Schools Cricket Association to send Indian Schools (under-15) team to play matches in Sri Lanka in December this year, according to BD Gandhi, secretary, SGFI.

Players below 15 years on January 1, 1998 are eligible to take part in the meet. SGFI has accepted SLSCA’s invitation. However, the tour needs the approval of executive committee, which is likely to be held shortly.

SGFI will also send its team to England next month to play three Test matches and three one day matches during the tour.

It may be recalled that the Indian School under-15 team emerged victorious in the World School Cricket Cup held in 1996 at Lombard (England). The probables are undergoing a coaching camp at Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana.
