SANGRUR, Nov 25: A sub-divisional officer of PSEB posted at Dhuri, Tarsem Chand Jindal was today caught red-handed by DSP of Vigilance Bureau Mandeep Singh Sidhu while taking illegal gratification of Rs 5,000 from one Tarinder Singh, a poultry farm owner of village Manwala near Dhuri.
Sidhu said Jindal had fined Singh Rs 4,000 a few days back on the charge of committing various power supply related irregularities on his poultry farm and when Singh contacted him to get an electric connection for his house, he demanded Rs 10,000 in bribe and also permitted him to commit any irregularity at his poultry farm. However, Singh haggled and settled the sum at Rs 5,000. But when the SDO was accepting the bribe in his office at Dhuri, he was nabbed by Sidhu and his team. Sidhu said another amount of Rs 7,025 was also recovered from the SDO. When his house was raided for further search, his wife and children were not at home and the house was locked, Sidhu added.
A case has been registered at the police station of Vigilance Bureau, Patiala under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
