If Abhishekh Sethi (19) and Tarosh Diwanjee (18) had strapped on their seat belts, they may have survived last night’s car crash. While Abhishekh was driving a Fiat Palio, owner of the car and his friend Rahul Vidhane (20), who was sitting next to him, survived because he was wearing a seat belt.

Meanwhile, Sethi’s father Anil Sethi blamed the Maruti Swift’s driver, Gaurav Avlani, for his son’s death.

The police said Avlani (21), who was not only driving the Swift at high speed but was also in the wrong lane, survived the accident because of the air bag in his car, which inflated on impact. Avlani said the accident was a “mistake”. At the Versova police station where he was taken to after his arrest, he said: “Why are you guys making it an issue? I did not murder anyone.”
