NEW DELHI, SEPT 27: The independent panel probing alleged price-rigging of select scrips would submit its report to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) during this week, top SEBI sources said.

The probe, initiated by the market regulator following allegations of price-rigging in select scrips at the behest of "big bull" Harshad Mehta, had investigated the role played by many key brokers at the Bombay and National Stock Exchanges.

When contacted, SEBI chairman D R Mehta refused to comment saying "just wait for a few days." However, the sources indicated that action could be taken against several stock brokers who are likely to be indicted by the independent probe panel.

SEBI initiated an independent probe in July following allegations of large-scale share price-rigging of BPL Ltd, Pentafour Software and Videocon.
