PANCHKULA, Dec 1: The sector 16 Traders Association today observed a three-hour bandh and submitted a memorandum to HUDA Administrator Abhilaksh Likhi regarding the problems being faced by the shopkeepers of the market. The Association members also held a peace march, which started from the Sector 16 market and ended at the HUDA Estate office in Sector 6 here.

Association General Secretary D.R. Verma, while apprising the "Newsline" about the shopkeepers’ grievances, said they were demanding the setting up of a dispensary in the Sector, besides the provision of water taps, levelling of uneven sites and linking of the different blocks of the market.

Verma said the shopkeepers were also demanding a check on the stray cattle menace, provision of transformers for regular power supply, installation of electric poles in front of SCF Nos 251-270 and the removal of all the unauthorised jhuggies and rehris from the market. A major source of their problems is the kisan mandis that litter the area.
