MULBAGIL (KOLAR DIST), July 1: Hurtling from one crisis to another, brought on chiefly by its obdurate southern ally, the Bharatiya Janata Party may find deliverance yet. And an offer of help by none other than the seer of the Pejawara Mutt in Udupi, Sri Visveshatheertha Swamy, might be the just the route it is looking for.

Speaking to The Indian Express before leaving for Chennai, the seer said he would “not mind” speaking to AIADMK chief J Jayalalitha “in the interest of the nation”.

A stable government at the Centre is the need of the hour and to achieve this the AIADMK leader should continue her support to the BJP government, he said. The country cannot afford to face elections frequently, he said, suggesting that if it was “inevitable and feasible”, a system of national government be tried out.

All political parties should realise that the country was more important than the party, he said and proposed that instead of labelling a party secular, communal or Leftist, a common minimumprogramme be planned and implemented, through a national government if possible.
