RAIPUR, AUG 28: Congress General Secretary Prabha Rau has said the party would name the Chief Minister for the new Chhattisgarh State before November 1.

Rau, who is also state in-charge, visited Jagdalpur, Bilaspur and Raipur to find out a suitable candidate from the party’s 48 MLAs in the region, and would submit a report to the AICC president within a week.

She told reporters here today that Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh and other senior Congress leaders’ opinion would be taken before making a final announcement.“A competent and deserving candidate will be made Chief Minister”, Rau said.

Earlier, she met former Union Minister and convenor of the Chhattisgarh Sangharsh Morcha V C Shukla and some of his colleagues.
